Introduction to Hunting
4 weeks; $200 per week

Designed for dog 12 weeks of age and older, this introductory class teaches basic obedience commands of sit, stand, down, come and walk on a loose lead while introducing the dog to the bird and gun.

Pointing Gun Dog Foundation

Gun Dog Foundation Program
6 weeks; $30 per day
Recommended age: 6 months and older

The goal of this program is to insure your dog sets off on the right path for its hunting career. The foundation program provides the dog with the correct technical foundation and experiences to be a polished gun dog . Here we teach and reinforce advanced obedience in actual hunting situations to develop control under high distractions.

The course covers the following areas:

  • General obedience, developing whoa, here, heel and kennel with positive reinforcement
  • Collar conditioning
  • Bird and gun introduction
  • Develop Steady to wing (point and hold until you flush the bird)
  • Develop and improve natural retrieve
  • Develop search pattern and range and various hunting scenarios
  • Exposure to birds and gun
  • Introduction to hunting with other dogs
  • Honoring and backing

What to expect

For the pup of average ability and temperament you can expect a quiet, responsive, obedient, reliable dog who is steady to flush, proficient in retrieves as well as handling and hunting in varied environments. A gundog ready for your first hunts.

Pointing Advanced - Finished Gun Dog

Advanced – Finished Gun Dog Program
12 weeks; $30 per day

Open to all breeds this course builds upon the principles presented in our foundation training course, training developed specifically for the needs of the upland wingshooter The training emphasizes all essential gundog skills including obedience, steady/honor, delivery,. Dogs are exposed to various hunting terrain and environments (both land and water) and a variety of birds.

The course covers the following areas:

  • Builds off the foundation program
  • Continued bird exposure to wild and liberated birds
  • Further develop honoring
  • Develop Steady to release
  • Steady to wing and shot
  • Conditioned retrieve if necessary
